Millbridge Court Wedding
Wow! What can I say about this utterly gorgeous wedding at Millbridge Court in Farnham, Surrey. Ruth and David had so much love for each other, it was so very visible in the effort and passion they put into their wedding day. It was certainly a corker! Having had an engagement shoot before the wedding, it was like catching up with old friends. They knew how I worked and I knew what they liked. It was a dream.
Thunder and light rain started the day – but as they say it’s lucky to have rain on your wedding day. After the crazy temperatures of the past few weeks and with our luck certainly holding, we missed the rain in all of the right places. These gorgeous pockets of sunshine hit perfectly, especially for some great portrait photos in the early evening. If you have been to a Millbridge court wedding before you will know exactly what I mean when I say Wow! What a venue! With the ceremonie being under the gorgeous oak arbour and the high vaulted wedding breakfast hall with floor to ceiling windows and stunning rustic wooden beams, this venue is to die for.
Bridal preparation and groom preparation was at Millbridge court. It is such a wonderful space as Ruth was surrounded by everything she knew and loved – including the bridesmaids! The room were full of laughter and fun making for some great photos. David began his preparation for the wedding at the fairly new The Lodge house which is a separate building next to the main house. On the first floor is The Den which is a really stylish comfy space where David could get ready with his groomsmen, a perhaps have a whiskey or two.
Flowers, Dress to die for and Confetti
The weather was perfect all day for photography, with the skys being overcast this acted like a giant softbox in the sky. This made the colours they had chosen for the flowers, bridesmaids, and table decorations seem that much more vibrant. Everything coordinated and complemented each other so well. Even down to the ever so sweet table coasters with photos from yours truly printed on them. Ruth’s dress was truly to die for, such an elegant and stylish design, the designers at little london brides have really outdone themselves.
Now, I’m not one to like making a scene, but sometimes as a Millbridge court wedding photographer you have to come out of your shell in order to get the best photographs for the couples wedding day. For one full group photograph in particular, I had to get myself pretty high up to capture the whole wedding party in front of those epic windows at Millbridge.
This meant tiptoeing myself on one of the garden chairs to get high enough to get everybody in, luckily I had a helping hand from fellow wedding photographer Daniel Robinson to steady my chair. The speeches were hilarious, with best man and friends telling all sorts of stories about Ruth and David with a very modern twist via laptops and google hangouts. Afterwards we popped out for some portraits after the food and caught the sunset just right. I absolutely love when my couples are up for a second lot of portraits as if the sun is setting the light is just perfect. We captured some of my favourite photos during this sunset jaunt.
Dance the night away
For the cake cutting and first dance it’s always a pleasure, as the couple are stress free by this point and it’s not every day you have a full 3 tier cheese barrel cake! Once the music began in earnest, everyone was on the dance floor. The final picture on my memory cards, was a night time portrait in the courtyard of Ruth and David bathed in awesome disco lights beaming through those amazing Millbridge court windows. They were both such good sports the entire day and loved every idea I had for photos. A photographer’s dream couple!
