Two Iconic London Wedding Venues for a Perfect London Wedding Photography Experience

Debbie and David’s wedding took place in central London, right in the heart of one of the most iconic London areas: Piccadilly. Debbie and her bridesmaids prepared at The In and Out, the elegant London wedding venue chosen for their reception, while David and his groomsmen gathered just around the corner at the luxurious Sofitel St James’.

Ceremony at St James’ Church, Piccadilly – A London Wedding Photographer’s Dream

Their ceremony was held at the breathtaking St James’ Church, Piccadilly, designed by the legendary Sir Christopher Wren, also famously behind St Paul’s Cathedral—another iconic London wedding venue. The church’s architecture offered the perfect backdrop for London wedding photography: stunning exteriors paired with awe-inspiring interiors, including a spectacular stained glass window towering above the altar.

Debbie walked down the aisle in a traditional bridal procession—the bride with her father, followed by her bridesmaids. The ornate wooden paneling behind the altar and radiant stained glass window made for mesmerizing photos. This venue truly shines as a jewel for anyone seeking exceptional London wedding photography.

After heartfelt readings and personal vows, a string quartet serenaded the guests as Debbie and David signed the register. In that moment, they became husband and wife.

The In and Out – A Timeless London Wedding Venue for Reception Photography

Just a short walk away, the second venue of the day was The In and Out, a historic and elegant London wedding venue located on St James’ Street. Originally known as the Naval and Military member’s club, the venue’s charming nickname stuck and is now synonymous with refined celebrations.

This Grade II listed building combines old-world grandeur with modern touches, providing an exquisite setting for London wedding photography. Debbie and David hosted celebratory drinks in the private courtyard, a beautiful spot for candid photos filled with laughter and joy.

The wedding breakfast was held in The Coffee Room, a grand space with rich red walls adorned with oil paintings, ornate gold cornicing, and shimmering chandeliers. The space even conceals a built-in dancefloor beneath the carpet—ideal for the evening’s festivities. Each table was elegantly decorated with candelabras, greenery, and floral arrangements, named after places meaningful to the couple, blending intimacy with style.

Capturing the Joy of London Wedding Photography Around Piccadilly

No London wedding photography session would be complete without capturing the surrounding cityscape. We took group photos in the charming St James’ Square, as guests passed through en route to the reception. Then, while attendees enjoyed drinks in the courtyard, I had the pleasure of photographing Debbie and David’s couples portraits.

The Piccadilly location offered countless stunning backdrops—from stately facades to tree-lined streets, all bathed in the warm glow of late afternoon sunlight. One of the unique charms of London wedding photography is the vibrant city buzz—the smiles and reactions of passersby added an authentic energy to the photos.

David looked dashing in a classic black suit and bow tie, while Debbie wore a gorgeous lace gown with a fishtail silhouette, complemented by a delicate tiara and subtly sparkling beadwork on the dress’s back.

Thoughtful Details Make This London Wedding Photography Truly Special

Back at The In and Out, the couple’s first dance set the tone for a night filled with fun. To keep guests energized, Debbie and David provided nostalgic fairground-style sweet carts, offering popcorn in vintage paper bags and a candy floss spinner. They also thoughtfully supplied fans to keep everyone cool—because nothing should stop your guests from dancing the night away!
