Coltsfoot Country Retreat wedding
Being a recommended supplier at Coltsfoot country retreat, I couldn’t ask for a better venue to capture couple’s wedding days! Set in the Hamlet of Bull’s Green, surrounded by acres of beautiful Hertfordshire countryside, this venue really does have it all.
This converted barn venue really has a wow factor, as soon as you step foot in the property you know you are going to have an amazing day. If the venue alone wasn’t good enough, you also have full exclusivity for the weekend. I might add, you also have an Alpaca farm on site, which is great for photos; don’t worry, they don’t spit, that’s camels! Family at the heart of it all
I first met Abbie whilst photographing another wedding way back in 2018. Abbie was the hair stylist for the day at that particular wedding. Fast Forward a postpostonment or two thanks to Covid, to August 2021, and I have the pleasure of photographing Abbie’s own wedding at Coltsfoot Country Wedding Retreat!
Bridal prep was so chilled with a real family vibe. Abbie’s daughter Annabelle provided all the giggles whilst Abbie got ready in the company of her bridal party, being her mum and sister. These girls are so close it is really beautiful to witness, and in fact, the same could be said for Charlie’s family as well. It’s a photographer’s dream when you meet couples and families which are really close, as you get to capture so many true emotions throughout the day!
Dusty blush pink and muted greens was the colour theme, which echoed across the ceremony, table decor and the bridesmaid dresses. Charlie was looking very dapper in his light grey and muted green tie and three-piece suit. And it was a pleasure to photograph Charlie and his son Albie getting ready! By seeing the photos below I think you’ll agree, Albie is one cool little man, look out ladies of the future!

Nicole, the very talented Pianist, provided the guests with some beautiful wedding piano songs, and the entrance song for Abbie was just amazing. If you’re looking for some music for your wedding, I would highly recommend Nicole. She is very talented and it’s a great little touch to set the scene for a marriage ceremony. Please go check out here Youtube Channel here where she demonstrates all her talent!
Sssh, Don’t tell anyone!
My favorite part of the day has to be portraits of my couples. Generally in the summer months I get to take my couples out twice, which is great as you can get some really amazing sunset photos if the weather permits. It is also a great way to just get away and soak it all in, just the two of you.
At Coltsfoot Country Retreat Wedding you have so many great places for photos. There’s a hidden garden, stunning views outside the property with the barn in the background and opposite, rolling country fields. And of course, the Alpacas! I recommend to my couples to give themselves a good 45 mins for some photos; for the very reason that if a venue is big, with multiple great spots, you’ll want enough time to get round to all of them.
With Abbie and Charlie, we did exactly that, and even had enough time to quickly drive 2 minutes down the road to an amazing wheat field, for some great boho summer vibe photos. Actually we were really lucky as there was a storm brewing, and as I can recall, the next few days absolutely rained cats and dogs!
Back to the Coltsfoot Country Retreat Wedding party!
Upon our return, the evening guests were arriving and the disco was gearing up to go. With a few moments to cut the cake and a little longer for a romantic first dance, everyone filled the dance floor to the late hours. JN sounds
provided great music all night, and little did I know, they had hired Eliah a saxophonist who was absolutely killing it on the dancefloor! As the drinks flowed into the night, so did the epic dance moves from the guests, and just before I was about to leave I got heckled into having a little dance myself, which is always fun. 🙂
